The DRHA Programme Committee is delighted to announce that the European Science Foundation (ESF) Standing Committee for the Humanities (SCH) has generously funded three bursaries for early stage researchers to attend the GIS pre-conference workshop (5-6 September 2009) of the DRHA 2009 conference . The bursaries will be awarded to a maximum of €1000 each to cover workshop registration fees and accommodation at the Elms Residence (€600 with three nights accommodation), as well as a contribution towards travel and subsistence. If participants would like to use any excess funds up to €1000 to attend the DRHA conference, registration will be made available at the postgraduate delegate rate. To apply for these fellowships, candidates must be:
- an emerging scholar, which is defined by the ESF as someone who has not been in an established position for more than five years, with exceptions for parental, medical, and national service leaves. The ESF notes that ‘students, post-doctorate researchers and lecturers within 5 years of appointment would be amongst those included in this definition’.
- you are affiliated to a an institution in a country in which ESF has a member organisation see www.esf.org/about-us/80-member-organisations.html
