  • Call for Applications: From Metadata to Linked Data Summer School

    dho summer schoolThe Digital Humanities Observatory and Trinity College Dublin are delighted to announce a five day summer school, ‘From Metadata to Linked Data’, a joint Irish Research Council for Humanities and Social Sciences (IRCHSS) COST (Interedition) training school. Through the generosity of the IRCHSS and COST, there is no registration fee.

  • DHO Research Website Launched

    DHO Special Projects 13 January 2011 - The DHO is delighted to announce the on-line availability of a series of digital projects completed by an Foras Feasa PhD students at St Patrick's Drumcondra, Dublin.

    Irish Children in 18th Century Institutions chronicles the experience of Irish children from a wide variety of backgrounds who were enrolled in schools and institutions throughout Ireland and Europe during the eighteenth-century. Gaye Ashford compiled a database of over 600 records from admission rolls and other official sources as part of her thesis. The online exhibit offers users the ability to browse admission records and view the records on a timeline as well as geospatially.

    The Published Works of Eilís Dillon: Editions and Translations explores the diverse publishing history of the works of this prolific twentieth century Irish author.

  • The DHO Announces DRAPIer Database Expansion

    DRAPIer News Item 06/12/20106 December 2010 - Building on the success of DRAPIer as a resource for Digital Humanities scholars in Irish Higher Education, DRAPIer will now facilitate the inclusion of digital collections from Irish Cultural Heritage Institutions. Moreover, institutions outside of the island of Ireland who host digital collections in the area of Irish studies may also have their collections listed in the database. This expanded mandate will better reflect, highlight and promote the wide interest in Irish cultural heritage at a global level.

  • Hardiman Library Launches New Balfour Album Website

    Arthur Balfour Album On-Line15 October 2010 - The Research Services division of the James Hardiman Library at National University of Galway, Ireland has launched the Arthur Balfour Album On-Line. The Balfour Album of photographs was originally created in 1893-1895 by the Belfast photographer, Robert John Welch.
