  • Librarians Learn About Open-Access Resources

    25 February 2010 -Kevin Hawkins, Visiting Metadata Manager at the DHO, presented "Discovering Open-Access Resources" at E-MAGINATION: Sourcing, Evaluating & Delivering Electronic Information Resources, the 2010 annual seminar of the Academic and Special Libraries Section of the Library Association of Ireland. In his talk, Hawkins spoke about how scholarly literature is increasingly freely available online, demonstrating a number of strategies for discovering them.  He also spoke to the paradigm shift in how new means of dissemination will impact the system of scholarly communication.

  • Two Workshops at the University of Ulster - Great Interaction and Hands-On Learning

    19 February 2010 - DHO Digital Humanities Specialists Dr Faith Lawrence and Shawn Day travelled to the University of Ulster to present workshops on Seeing Data Differently: Emerging Tools for Scholarly Analysis and Presentation and A Date with Data: What is this Markup Stuff Anyway? Attendees at both workshops actively participated  in two days of hands-on sessions and short lectures designed to foster digital humanities skills development and to encourage discussion and sharing around scholarly practise.

  • Summer School 2010 Registration Now Open

    10 Feburary 2010 - The DHO is pleased to announce that registration for the DHO Summer School, in conjunction with NINEs and the EpiDoc Collaborative, is now open. 

    This year, in addition to four-day workshop strands, the DHO is also offering mid-week, one-day workshops. For those unable to attend the entire Summer School, it is possible to register separately for these mid-week workshops and lectures.

  • Digital Humanities Workshops: Metadata, Markup and Emerging Tools for Scholarly Analysis and Presentation - Registration Open

    2 February 2010 - The DHO in conjunction with the University of Ulster is proud to present two one-day digital humanities workshop events: Seeing Data Differently and A Date With Data. Lead by Digital Humanities Specialists Shawn Day and Dr K Faith Lawrence these workshops will take place 17th and 18th February at the Magee Campus, University of Ulster.

  • Digital Humanities Symposium: Metadata, Markup and Digital Managment

    7 January 2010 - The DHO is delighted to announce a two-day digital humanities event run in conjunction with University College Cork. The symposia and workshops will take place on January 14/15th. The first day will be devoted to digital project management and include hands-on sessions with some of the tools available for researchers. The second day provides an introduction into markup, metadata, and encoding principles, followed by a more focused afternoon workshop on TEI.
